Cytomel (Liothyronine Sodium) is a synthetic form of the important thyroid hormone known as Triiodothyronine (or T3). The thyroid gland produces the hormone Thyroxine/T4 (the precursor to T3) which then is converted to T3 primarily in the liver. T3 is important in stimulating basal metabolic rate, along with having numerous other functions relating to the metabolism of proteins, fats and carbohydrates. When T3 levels become too low, this leads to Hypothyroidism (underactive thyroid), which brings a number of adverse side effects such as obesity. By supplementing with T3, one can simulate Hyperthyroidism (overactive thyroid), which increases metabolism and fat loss. Cytomel is regularly stacked with Clenbuterol and other stimulants such as Caffeine, Ephedrine and Yohimbine to expedite fat loss. This hormone is very catabolic in nature so dosage should stay low enough to prevent catabolism of muscle tissue. This can be mitigated by stacking Cytomel with anabolic-androgenic steroids (AAS) or SARMs, which is common practice.
NOTE: There is no “miracle” fat loss drug or diet. To properly lose weight (ideally body fat, not muscle and/or water) requires a healthy diet where you remain in a calorie deficit (consuming fewer daily calories than you expend). Sufficient weekly exercise (via weight training and cardio) is also required to both build muscle and expedite fat loss. Getting adequate recovery and sleep (7-9 hours per night) is equally important.
